The performances were not very complicated. One of the high-schoolers acted as a narrator, standing off to the side and reading the story, while others acted out what was happening. During Green Eggs and Ham, while Sam-I-Am is pestering the unnamed character, the actors used cutouts of a boat, house and the titular green eggs and ham to depict every scenario described in the book.The high-schoolers went to eight Ridgecrest schools over the course of the day. They performed at Las Flores, Gateway, Faller, Pierce and Inyokern elementaries as well as St. Ann s, Immanuel Christian School and the Ridgecrest Charter School.According to Kratz, Dr. Seuss Day is an event drama club members look forward to every year. She said the teens enjoy performing for the younger kids; going back to see their old teachers, principals and siblings means a lot to them.The teacher was proud of her students performances and noted how happy it made her to see them take charge of their activities. She noted her admiration for their innovative style, playfulness, collaboration and the joy they take in their work while creating theatrical productions.Dr. Seuss Day has been a tradition of the drama club for at least 15 years as a way to celebrate the author s contributions to literacy.
